The CED eco home design is a typological housing study with environmental and economic concerns. This project created by P.AR – Platform of Architecture was awarded in the category of Environment by DNA Cascais - an initiative of the Municipality of Cascais.
Lacecal presents an innovative product and which results from contemporary and contextualized requests. The EHD eco house design includes environmental and economic concerns, but also the Portuguese architectural culture from nowadays.
The selection of the house is based on a multiple choice system that, with technical guidance from Lacecal leads each client the type, ambiance and price more adquated.
The concept of CED is based on modulation principles, pre-fabrication and pre-assembly.
Lacecal is looking to take advantage of the high development of the timber industry in Canada, adapted to the Portuguese context.
For this reason, the assembly of CED is based on expedited processes, in terms of work time and cost of labour. It is possible, depending on the location and characteristics of land, to estimate as two months the time to implement a CED#3 (107 sgm).

In addition, the environmental concerns described above lead to a low cost of use of the house, which is directly reflected in the bills of electricity or piped water.
With walls of high thermal inertia, one can get an indispensable sense of comfort inside. For the arrangement of windows, one can ensure an effective ventilation, which reduces the temperature during the summer and maintain the health of indoor air. The bigger openings are protected because they are gathered from the plane of the façade, to avoid excessive solar gains.
The CED is designed to incorporate energy-saving equipment.
On the loft, it can be created a good area to place sewers, reservoirs and technical installations. Thus, it allows to collect and take the rainwater and reuse waste water (non-black) as a way to reduce the consumption of potable water.
The inclusion of solar panels as a cover of the roof, is also an option.
